There are a few Undertaker DVD out on the market today, but what I found among the best is a 3 disc set called "Tombstone: The History Of The Undertaker". The almost 9 hours highlights undertaker’s best matches between 1991 from his early Dead Man days through the Phenom stages and American Badass all the way back to 2004 when he returned as the Dead Man.

Disc 1

Undertaker Vs. Hulk Hogan (WWE Championship) - This was Undertaker’s first WWE title. He really challenged Hulk Hogan to the limit. After pinning Hogan with outside help from Ric Flair, hulkamanias were in shock. A decent match, not a classic in any way.

Undertaker Vs. Yokozuna (WWE Championship Casket Match) - This match turned out to be more of a one way gang fight aginst the Dead Man. Undertaker had to fight off several superstars such as Diesel, Bam Bam, and more. He did put up hell of a fight fending off the other stars. This could been a really good match if not for all the interfences.

Undertaker Vs. Diesel - This match from Wrestlemania 12 is not the best of the Undertaker’s. But it was definitely among the best from Kevin Nash. A basic big vs. big match.

Undertaker Vs. Mankind (Buried Alive Match) -The third best match from these two. The first would be that ridiouclsy insense Hell in a Cell Match. This match is no slugh though. Ring steps, chairs, and hard hitting maneouvs were highlights of the match. Taker was buried alive in the end with help from other stars despite winning the match.

Undertaker Vs. Mankind (WWE Championship Match) - This would be the second best match among the two. It was no DQ and both man utilized weapons. Best moment was when Mankind went head first trhough an annuncer table. Don’t really know about the fireall into Paul Bearer’s face.

Undertaker Vs. Bret Hart (WWE Championship Match) - A great match between the two. Undertaker was even able to match the speed and agility of Bret in some instances. Shawn Michaels was the special referee and this match had run ins from Paul Bearer, Brian Pillman, and Owen Hart.

BONUS: Undertaker Vs. Bret Hart from One Night Only in England- Another great match from these two. I persoanlly like this over their match at Summer Slam.

EXTRAS ON DISC 1

Undertaker attacks Hogan in the Funeral Parlor
Undertaker builds a casket for Yokozuna
Undertaker talks about Diesel in the graveyard
Undertaker talks about Mankind in the graveyard
Undertaker interrupts Mankind’s interview

DISC 2

Undertaker Vs. Shawn Michaels (In Your House: Ground Zero) - An average match that leads to the better match. Triple H and Chyna also appears in this match.

Undertaker Vs. Shawn Michaels (Hell In The Cell) - This is the better match that sets the standard for what Hell in the Cell match should be…well until that Mankind match. One of the top Hell in the Cell matches in history.

Undertaker Vs. Kane (WrestleMania 14) - The first ever match bewteen the two was basiclally a big vs. big match that features highlights including 3 continous tombstones from the Undertaker to finish off his "brother".

Undertaker Vs. Kane (Inferno Match) - Could have been better but it was amazing that they could perform in the ring with all the fire around them. Undertaker diving out from the ring suroounded by flames into Kane and Vader was the main highlight.

Undertaker Vs. Mankind (Hell In The Cell) - This is the match that fans talk about. This is the match that sets the bar for hardcore Hell In the Cell matches. This is the match that elevated Mick Foley to superstardom. Highlights include Foley being thrown off the top of the cage, crashing into the tables, and when Taker chockslammed Mick right through the cage.

Undertaker Vs. The Rock (WWE Championship Match) - An entertaining match with the Great One. Nothing classic though. Taker wins by tombstone wtih intereferencde from Triphle H.

EXTRAS ON DISC 2

Undetaker interview right after SummerSlam ‘97 concerning Shawn Michaels
Undertaker talking to parents’ tombstones
Undertaker interview where Kane burns their parents’ tombstones
Undertaker breaks into Paul Bearer’s house

DISC 3

Undertaker Vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin (WWE Championship/First Blood Match) - A great effort by these two man. What makes this match better was the fan reactions and atomshpere of the arena. Features interferences from Triphle H, Vince McMahhon, The Rock, and more.

Undertaker Vs. HHH (WrestleMania X-7) - The top 3 of Undertaker’s wrestlemania matches. Filled with counters and reversals. The flow and pace was great as well. The only better Undertaker Wrestlemania match was that with Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania 25.

Undertaker Vs. Hulk Hogan (WWE Championship Match) - For some reason, Undertaker and Hogan just could not really connect to make a great match. Not that bad, but it is not that good either.

Undertaker Vs. Brock Lesner (WWE Championship Match/Hell In The Cell) - A great Hell in a Cell match that features blood and more blood. Both men took a lot of punishment. Too bad the ending is not what I was expecting since Brock Lesner won.

Undertaker Vs. John Cena - Actually, this match is better than I expected from a rookie John Cena. Cena was actually able to stay move for move with Taker and gave him a really tough time before finishing off Cena with the Last Ride.

Undertaker Vs. Mr. McMahon (Buried Alive Match) -Well, out of all the McMahon matches I recalled, this is the one that he really did not put up a fight as Undertaker just man handles him from right to left and left to right. Still Taker lost when Kane interefersed.

Undertaker Vs. Kane (WrestleMania 20) - The entrance of Taker: Worth Watching. The match itself: The worst among their many matches. Very forgetable and not worth the hype.

EXTRAS ON DISC 3

Undertaker talks about HHH
Undertaker promo on Hulk Hogan
Undertaker talks about Hell In The Cell
Undertaker in the graveyard promo on Mr. McMahon

BONUS MATCH: Undertaker Vs. Kurt Angle from Smackdown in 2003
This is really probably among the top matches from this set. Wrestling fans know anytime you put the Deadman and Olympic champion together, you are going to have a classic. Filled with counters, reversals, and more. Too bad for the intereference ending. Defintely worth seeing.

Overall, this is the best Undertaker DVD set covering his career to 2004. If you want his classics with Kurt Angle at No Way Out, Batista and Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania, you just have to wait until WWE decides to release a new one. I was kind of disapointed with the packing since it had the 3 disc one on top of the other, but for the contents, you couldn’t ask for better.

After waiting for a while, WWE have finally decided to release the Best of Saturday Night’s Main Event 3 disc dvd set. Before even the days of Raw and Smackdown, there is only one Main wrestling TV show to see on some Saturday nights. Wrestling back in the 80s was so popular that the main TV networks such as NBC and even Fox decided to air wrestling shows during prime times. At its peak, Saturday Night’s Main Event was recording record highs of 10 to 11s on TV ratings, which have not been seen since then. For the information, the highest TV rating since then was in the 8.0 range during the Monday Night Wars in the mid 90s.

Overall, this is one of the best WWE dvd to ever grace the entertainment dvd collections. There is a lot of Hulk Hogan, Macho Man, and even a very young Shawn Michaels. It is also nice to see it include the newer returns of the WWE to Saturday Night’s Main Event. Not only does the set include some good solid matches, it also includes some of the best interviews and moments from Saturday Night’s Main Event such as the infamous Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan controversial match with the Hebner referees. If you are an 80s to early 90s wrestling fan or just feeling nostalgic at the matches, events, or interviews, you should not miss this set !!!

For in depth listing of matches, interviews, and events from this WWE dvd set, scroll down or Click WWE DVD: The Best of Saturday Night’s Main Event

Wrestling fans cannot simply talk about wrestling dvd or wrestling videos without citing or talking about the WWE library because the largest collection of professional wrestling videos and copyrights in the world currently belongs to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

According to the data on Wikipedia, the library currently has about over 95, 000 hours of content with increasing hours every week coming from monthly pay-pay-views, house shows, RAW show, Smackdown Shows, ECW shows, and so on. Through Vince Mchahon’s (owner and Chairman of the company) brilliant strategy and marketing skills, he eventually bought out most of the competition, making his WWE the biggest global wrestling organization in the world.

The WWE DVD video collection currently consist of all its own federation tapes starting from Capitol Wrestling Corporation in the 1950s to the present WWE. It also has the rights to any WWE produced ventures such as cartoon series featuring Hulk Hogan, the XFL, and all the currently produced WWE Films.

What makes the WWE DVD library the largest in the world is its ability to buy out and purchased libraries of now defunct wrestling organizations through out the years. It currently includes libraries from American Wrestling Association, Georgia Championship Wrestling, Extreme Championship Wrestling, Ohio Valley Wrestling, Smoky Mountain Wrestling, Stampede Wrestling, World Championship Wrestling, World Class Championship Wrestling, and the Jim Crockett Promotions.

Out of all this, perhaps the most impressive collection is that of the Jim Crockett Promotions collection since it was the major and the largest NWA member for its entire existence, which later became WCW in the 1980s until WCW left the NWA in 1993. The major acquisition of the collection happened in 2001 when WWE bought out WCW, which contained a significance amount of NWA matches from the 1970s to the 1990s.

Without the WWE Wrestling Video Archive, wrestling fans would probably have a tougher time reliving and experiencing those great moments again. So the next time you are watching professional wrestling and paying tribute to these wrestlers, remember it is all possible due to the WWE DVD collection !

First of all, If you do not want to buy this dvd set because you were disappointed with the Greatest Wrestling Stars of the 90’s, then you don’t have to worry because this is a very good dvd set, unlike the previous one.

This WWE DVD set starts out with a 3 hour documentary hosted by Tazz that covers a list of who and who’s that we all know if you have been a wrestling fan for years. Everyone from The Rock, Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Lex Luger, Kevin Nash, Stone Cold, Bret Hart, Undertaker, to the NWO and Degeneration X is covered in the documentary. And yes, WWE did surprising give Sting a lot of coverage and credit which is shocking since Sting is well, the main eventer from rival competition TNA. Most of the interviews in the documentary are probably from old videos, but there are still a few new ones.

Regarding the contents, WWE credits where credits are due, but also manages to down grade a few wrestlers, such as Lex Luger while during his WWE days as the "Total Package" and the "American Hero" characters. While most of the contents are right on topic, I was disappointed with the lack of coverage on stars such as Goldberg and Vader.

The rest 2 disc are the matches that die heart wrestling fans might want to grab and collect. Ric Flair vs. Hogan from 91 was surprising good. Austin vs Undertaker is solid, though not their best work. The Sting vs. Vader match is a classic and must see. Despite the strong set of matches, there are still some weak ones such as Luger vs Hogan on Nitro, but mostly the matches are very solid.

I am proud to say that WWE is finally beginning to releasing some great compilation sets after some disappointing ones such as the one on the Ultimate Warrior and the 80s Superstars. This WWE dvd set is definitely a must buy for me.

When WWE first announced the McMahon dvd, I knew it was going to tank because you simply cannot cover the most controversial and powerful character in pro wrestling with just a 2 disc set.

And I was right, and I hated it. After viewing this, I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. I bought this dvd hoping to find out more about Vince McMahon, but instead all I got was the usual and the basis of what causal wrestling fans already know. Sure, there are a few interesting stories here and there, but this is really more about the character of Mr. McMahon than Vince McMahon the person.

Luckily, there are a few good matches included:

Raw - 13/04/98
vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin

Steel Cage Match - St. Valentine’s Day Massacre - 14/02/99
vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin

Handicap ladder Match - King of the Ring - 27/06/99
Mr. McMahon & Shane McMahon vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin

No Holds Barred Match - Armageddon - 12/12/99
vs. Triple H

Street Fight - Wrestlemania X7 - 01/04/01
vs. Shane McMahon

Street Fight - Royal Rumble - 20/01/02
vs. Ric Flair

Street Fight - Wrestlemania XIX - 30/03/03
vs. Hulk Hogan

I Quit Match - No Mercy - 19/10/03
vs. Stephanie McMahon

Overall, the documentary is a big letdown, and covers the roots of the character of Mr. McMahon that most fans already know. If you are trying to buy this dvd because you want to know more about Vince McMahon the person, you will be disappointed. If you are in for his matches, then this dvd set is for you.

Short Bio on John Cena

John Cena, real name John Fleix Anthony Cena, is currently the hottest wrestler in America. Currently employed by World Wrestling Entertainment, he is also consider by some to be a hip hop musician and actor. His impressive resume currently consists of 5 time World Champion (at the present time of the writing this article), 2 times World Tag Team Champion, 3 times United States Champion and the 2008 Royal Rumble.

Born on April 23, 1977 in West Newbury, Massachusetts, Cena attended Springfield College where he was a Division III All-American center on the football team. Upon graduating in 1998 with a exercise physiology degree, he became a bodybuilder while also working as a chauffeur for a limousine company.

"The Doctor of Thuganomics" started his wrestling career under the character of The Prototype, a semi-robotic character, at Ultimate University created by Ultimate Pro Wrestling. After a year in 2001 ,WWE interested by his strength and charisma, placed him to their developmental division known as Ohio Valley Wrestling.

Cena’s WWE career started in Smackdown with a boom as he quickly challenged Kurt Angle in his first show and nearly beat the Olympic Champion by kicking out of the Angle Slam and enduring the ankle lock submission. Soon after he started a program as a fan favorite with another well established superstar, Chris Jericho. After a few months of moderate success, he dropped the face personality and adopted a rapper personality who cut promos and interviews in rhyme. The rapper gimmick caught up with the fans and established him as a certificated heel where he soon awarded a championship title chance against then WWE champion, Brock Lesnar.

"The Chain Gang Soldier" was finally able to achieve his first World Title in 2005 at Wrestlemania 21 by defeating John "Bradshaw" Layfield. Cena continued his ongoing feud with JBL until around June of 2005 where he was drafted to WWE’s flagship show Monday Night Raw. Cena quickly made impact on Raw by retiring Chris Jericho for about a year. He soon started his feud once again with Kurt Angle, which saw Cena adding the STF, formerly known as STFU to his finishing repertoire. It was around this time that some fans started getting sick of seeing Cena as the main draw every week. Others were not impressive with his limited wrestling repertoire and unhappy with him making movies such as The Marines. As a result, many boos were heard in arenas every time Cena appeared.

In 2006, he started a feud with Edge that was considered to be the best rivalry in the last few years in professional wrestling. Around the same time, Cena was also put in programs to feud with Triple H and Rob Van Damn. These feuds would only intensified the negative reactions by some fans to Cena. Chants of "you can’t wrestle" and "you still sucks" were often heard around this time.

However, WWE heads have much faith in Cena’s drawing power and wrestling ability. He headlined Wrestlemania in 2007 by going toe to toe with "Mr. Wrestlemania" Shawn Michaels in a gruesome and physical match. One week later on Raw, Cena once again proved his wrestling skills and repertoire by going one hour Iron Man with Shawn Michaels in an instant classic and quite possibly the best match in Raw history in the last few years.

Besides in ring participation, Cena has also released an album called "You Can’t See Me" where he recorded his own entrance music. Besides music, Cena has starred in two action films, "The Marine" and "12 Rounds". No matter if "The Champ" is entertaining or boring wrestling fans with his films, music, interviews, or his Five Knuckle Shuffle in the ring, there is no deny that Cena certainly has the drawing power to be the next Hulk Hogan of professional wrestling.

Starrcade is basically the equivalent of WWE’s Wrestlemania and NFL’ s Superbowl. It is the flagship PPV show for WCW every year since 1983. The short documentary covers the idea behind the creation of the event to the different main event and rivalries of the past. It also briefly covers how Vince McMahon effected the show at one point, to why Starrcade lost it’s appeal over the years and it ended with the legacy Starrcade left behind . Overall, a brief but interesting documentary about the event.
Ric Flair vs. Vader

Most of these matches are very solid and represent the event pretty well. These are the top 25 matches voted by the fans and it is nice to see WWE pay tribute to WCW/NWA since it is something they don’t do very often. Some fans might note that the order is not by dates, but that is exactly the way WWE intended since these matches were ranked by the vote order of the fans.

Highlights of the dvd and my favorites include Ric Flair vs. Vader, Flair vs. Harley Race, Sting vs. Flair, Flair, vs Dusty Rhodes, Sting vs. Vader, Barry Windham & Brian Pillman vs. Ricky Steamboat & Shane Douglas.

Despite a strong list of matches, the Hogan and Piper match and the Hogan and Sting match should never have been included since they were so over hyped for an aging Hogan, Piper, or Sting to pull off. These two matches have the best buildups in WCW history but was a total letdown.

But in the end, WWE did a great job on the compilation of this WCW dvd set. If you are a old timer or just feeling nostalgic, or even a new fan that wanted to relieve the good old days, then this set is a must in your collection.

Woooooooo !!!!! To be the man, You must beat the Man !!! Yes, yes, I am talking about the 16 times World Champ, quite possibly one of the best, if not the best in the industry. Ric Flair sets the standard for what pro wrestling is today. This is the man who, for a period of time, wrestled in matches that lasted an hour everytime, even before the so call Iron Man match.

This Ric Flair dvd set differs from the earlier release in 2003 as it finally contains a near 2 hour documentary on Nature Boy with comments from Harley Race, Kevin Von Erich, Dusty Rhodes, Arn Anderson and so on. It covers his beginnings from the AWA, the Mid-Atlantic, his almost fatal plane crash, being the NWA champ, the Four Horseman, his feuds with the biggest stars, his early WWF days, the return to WCW, and his return to WWE.
Despite being the MAN, this 3 disc dvd set still ultimately fails to live up to the expectation. There are just too many great matches by the Man that is not on the dvd set, but oh well, if you add the first release with this one, you will still get a solid collection. If you are expecting much more from this set, you will just have to wait for WWE to one day releasing a 8 disc set……..hopefully but not very likely…..so until then this Ric Flair dvd set should do.

Short Bio on Ric Flair

" Wooooooo !!! To be the man, you have to beat the man !" quotes Ric Flair, possibly one of the most well know professional wresters in history. "The Nature Boy",widely recognized as the 16 time World Champion (8 times NWA, 6 times WCW, and 2 times WWE), is both a hated and popular wrestler throughout his 36 year career. His legends and legacy has indeed left a major impact in professional wrestling today.

Ric Flair was born on February 25, 1949 in Memphis, Tennessee. As a young age, he moved around the country from Edina, Minnesota to Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Before becoming a full time professional wrestler, He took on jobs such as lifeguard at a local pool to working as a bouncer at a club. After winning the state private school wrestling championship, he was recruited by the University of Minnesota. However, he shortly dropped out and met Olympic weightlifter Ken Patera, who later introduced him to Verne Gagne of the Verne Gagne’s wrestling school.

While most wrestling fans wrestling fans remember Flair for his bleached blond golden hair, handsomely looking figure, and slick wrestling style, he was quite the opposite in his early career in the 1970s. Back then, he was more of a power brawling wrestler who weighted nearly 300 pounds with short brown hair. However, he was already able to draw attention with his ring endurance and charismatic personality, which is a trademark of his career.

After little success with Verne Gagne, Flair left the AWA for Jim Crockett’s National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). It was here where he founded his home and built his legacy. However, things took a ugly turn when his career was almost ended in a serious plane crash in Wilmington, North Carolina. He, at a tender age of 26, broke his back in three places and was asked not to wrestle again by the doctors. Flair, however, showed will and guts by conducting rigorous physical therapies and returned to the ring in under half a year. Though he returned to the ring, the injuries forced "The Nature Boy" to change his wresting technique to the slick style wrestling fans know today from him.

In 1978, Ric finally reached the top elite class when he started referring himself as "The Nature Boy", which started a heated rivalry between him and the original "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers. In the following few years, he became the main draw for NWA and won several NWA World Championships while fending off top stars such as Dusty Rhodes, Ricky Steamboat, Roddy Piper, Jimmy Snuka, Harley Race and more. It was around this time that Flair started to embrace the role of "The Nature Boy" wrestling fans know today, sporting bleached blond hair, expansive suits, elegant jewelry, and astonishing custom robes while chopping away the competitions with his trademark chops and making opponents tapping out to his figure four leglock.

In 1985, he helped created one of the most famous groups in wrestling known as the Four Horseman. The original members consisted of Tully Blanchard, and Ole and Arn Anderson. This villainous group used their rule breaking tactics and number to destroy NWA’s wrestlers while holding much of the championship titles. This group would later resurfaced at WCW with different members.

After Crockett left NWA, he formed the World Championship Wrestling and built his promotion around Flair as the champion. It was here in WCW that Flair brought out the best in superstars such as Sting, Barry Windam, Lex Luger, Terry Funk, and the Steiner Brothers. A dispute with WCW president Jim Herd in the spring of 1991 promoted Flair to leave WCW and joined its main rivalry, Vince McMahon’s WWE.

Upon his arrival, "The Nature Boy" immediately made an impact by winning the 1992 Royal Rumble and then defeating Randy Savage for the WWE Title a few months later. He soon return as a face to WCW in early 1993 without really starting any major rivalry with Hulk Hogan, then WWE’s biggest draw. Upon returning he quickly reclaim the top spot by besting Vader for the WCW Title at Starrcade 1993. In June 1994, he finally participated in the ultimate dream match with Hulk Hogan. For the rest of the years, he reformed the Four Horseman to battle with the New World Order. For the remaining years until WWE’s eventual buyout of WCW in 2001, Flair’s career was overshadowed and underutilized in favor of new younger and quicker stars.

After a brief hiatus from wrestling, he returned to WWE as the on-camera co-owner of the company, starting a feud with Vince McMahon. Flair later became a main stable in Triple H’s Evolution, serving as a mentor to younger stars such as Batista and Randy Orton. After the group’s disbandment, Flair was all over WWE’s TV shows battling everyone including young and upcoming stars. Flair finally wrestled his last match at WreslteMania XXIV, losing to Shawn Michaels in one emotional match that was voted by Professional Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) as the Match of the Year in 2008.

Despite gaining much respect from younger wrestlers, Flair is not always respected by other legends such as Bret Hart, Mick Foley, and Bruno Sammartino. In his autobiography, he criticizes Hart for over-exploiting the death of Owen Hart, and the Montreal Screwjob, while also claming Hart was not a money-making draw in wrestling. He verbally attacked Mick Foley by calling him a glorified stuntman instead of a real wrestler. Against legend Bruno Sammarito, Flair commented that Sammartino was a star who couldn’t draw outside New York.

Despite those personal feuds, "The Nature Boy" have clearly established his legacy in the wrestling industry. Fans today pay tribute to him by shouting "Woooooo!" whenever a wrestler performs a knife-edge wrestling chop to the opponent’s chest, which was one of his signature move. No matter if wrestling fans remember him as the "limousine riding, jet flying, kiss stealing son of a gun" or his outlandish wits and entertaining interview style with his bleached blond hair and elaborate robes, Ric Flair is indeed, a wrestling legend like none other.

First of all, I am extremely happy to hear about the upcoming Macho Man dvd. It is nice to see Vince McMahon finally allowing this dvd to see the day of light. Randy "Macho Man" Savage is one the best and brightest to ever grace the ring. Everything from his flamboyant outfits to his electric voice and personality, to his high aerobic moves, it’s hard not to see why he one of the greatest stars of the 80s and 90s.

This Macho Man dvd 3 disc set covers the majority of his career from his debut to his prime and even his later WCW days. It’s definitely nice to see the match with Bruno Sammartino on the dvd. The Steamboat encounter at Wrestlemania III is a no brainer, but there’s a bit too much Ric Flair on the set. However, Savage did have many brilliant matches with the Nature Boy. Overall, this is still a very good release and I have already pre-ordered mine. So if you can handle the Madness, then be sure to grab a copy when this set hits the shelves on June 9.

You can scroll below for my personal review of the matches or click Wrestlemania DVD to know more about the DVD.

The matches, for those who don’t know include:

C.M. Punk vs. Mark Henry vs. Kane vs. Finlay vs. Kofi Kingston vs. MVP vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Christian - Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

This is a good MITB match, not as good as the past few years, but the highlighted spots performed by Kofi Kingston were quite impressive. Even Kane and Henry managed to help the flow of the match despite their sizes. The only down point was Christian never got to win and outshine Kofi and he lost to CM Punk despite the majority of the fan support.

7 / 10

25 Diva Battle Royale

There were 2 joke matches on the event, and this is the first. Despite hyping it as the greatest Diva Battle Royale where the Legends of the Divas will participate and hopefully be crowned as Miss Wrestlemania, it was a slap to all the Divas who participated. Trish, Lita, Blaze, the 3 most dominate Divas in history, never showed up. Instead, it was all an angle set up for the Santina Marella character, which was another joke……a major letdown.

1/10

Chris Jericho vs. Jimmy Snuka, Roddy Piper & Ricky Steamboat - 3 on 1 Handicap Match

I was hoping Hogan would showed up surprising and hulked up on Jercho, but….never happen. I have a lot of respect for the legends in this match, but Hot Rod is no longer hot and Superfly can’t fly anymore, as they demonstrated or lack of demonstrated in the match. The surprise is really the Dragon Steamboat. For a brief moment, he reminded me of his prime time working with Savage in Wrestlemania III as he was going toe to toe with Jericho and showed he still can fly through the air with grace. Ric Flair getting in the ring was expected but it was too short and I never really enjoyed the Mickey part.

6/10

Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy - Extreme Rules

Not as good as their old encounters. Despite the violence of the match, it never reached any climates I have felt before from watching their matches. Despite having Tables, Chairs, and Ladders, this match is still never quite as good as any of their TLC matches.

6/10

Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. JBL - Intercontinental Match

The 2nd joke match I was talking about. Instead of letting Rey getting his win the hard and glorify way…..JBL should never have agreed to this squash match, he deserved much better even if you don’t like his character. Only if Kid Rock would sang two less songs……the minutes could have gone to this match.

1/10

Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels

This is the main reason to watch this Wrestlemania, this is the match that should have gone last. This is the match that has the perfect hype. This is the match to see whom is the greater legend still performing today. This is Mr. Wrestlemania vs. the Phenom of Wrestlemania. This match is filled with emotions, intensity, great counters followed by some more great counters that were followed by a few great false finishes that got the whole stadium excited. They didn’t really stole the show as this match is the Show itself. This is a Hell of a match which witness that while The Undertaker is really the Phenom of the WWE, Shawn Michaels is still Mr. Wrestlemania despite the loss.

9/10

John Cena vs. Big Show vs. Edge - World Championship

For people who hate John Cena, don’t bother to read any further. For others, this is the better of the two world championship matches. All wrestlers had the chance to prove their dominance throughout the matches, which was highlighted by Cena carrying both Show and Edge on his shoulders before recording the win. This is not the best triple thread match in Wrestllemania history ( Jericho vs. Angle vs. Benoit and Shawn Michaels vs Triple H vs Benoit were better ones).

7/10

Randy Orton vs. Triple H - WWE Championship

This is one of the best build ups leading to a Wrestlemania Main Event, the match itself, however, was something else. It was slow and boring at times, as reflected by the crowd. The no DQ stipulation really hurt the match as after the long, intense buildups, fans would love to see the McMahon’s or Legacy run-ins. That never happened and the clean pinfall of Orton by Triple H really hurts the rivalry if it is suppose to go longer than a few months. This is indeed a letdown match and definitely not even close to the best Wrestlemania main event in its 25 th history.

6/10

Overall, this is a decent Wrestlemania with one hell of a match, a couple good matches, and 2 really lame matches. But then if you haven seen this Wrestlemania and felt good about it, be sure to grab a copy upon release. Even if you don’t like the matches, the bonus and extras on this set should win you over.

Wrestlemania Information

Nicknamed "The Grandaddy of Them All", Wrestlemania is a worldwide global wrestling event that draws the attention of millions of wrestling and entertainment fans every year. First produced by WWE owner Vince McMahon in 1985, it has lasted for more than 25 editions, with the 26th anniversary taking place in 2010.

Since its creation, It has quickly become the most prominent event in professional wrestling. Its popularity and success have helped many of WWE’s superstars such as Hulk Hogan, Macho Man, Bret Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, The Undertaker, and more to the rise of stardom. It is also currently the dream of thousands of wrestlers and fans alike to be able to participate in the Superbowl of professional wrestling. To most wrestlers, being able to partake in the event is considered to be highlight of their careers and most would be label as having unsuccessful careers if their names do not show up on the event card.

Wrestlemania usually takes place in late March or early April annually. Most of the television shows such as Raw and Smackdown are designed to eventually reach their climax at the event, which features most of the organization’s championship titles, especially the World Heavyweight Title and WWE’s own World Title. Besides these, the event is also well known for putting up specialty and gimmick matches such as the recently addition of Money in the Bank, where the only way to be declared the winner is to climb a ladder in an attempt to reach a briefcase suspended high above the ring while fending off five to seven competitors. This fast pace and exciting match, filled with high flying maneuvers, amazing aerobics and stunts, have been a fan favorite since its inauguration five years ago.

Just How big is Wrestlemania? For a typical wrestling event, sports arenas is usually the prefer method of attendances. However, nine of the 25 editions have been held in large stadiums used by the NFL and the MLB. Those attendances goes from the low 54,097 at the 19th edition in Seattle to the current world indoor attendance record of 93,173 in Pontiac, Michigan at the event’s 3rd anniversary. That edition is widely considered to be the pinnacle of the wrestling boom in the 1980s and was the largest paying attendance in professional wrestling at that time.

Perhaps some of the greatest wrestling moments occurred at Wrestlemania. Long time wrestling fans will mention Hulk body slamming Andre the Giant, the acclaim match between Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat, the Ultimate Showdown, the classic Ladder match between Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon, the 60 minute Iron Man, Stone Cold’s first world championship, the various Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match, The Rock and Hogan showdown, the emotional retirement of Ric Flair, and the Undefeated 17-0 streak of the Undertaker.

Due to the popularity and the wide appeal of Wrestlemania, many celebrities have participated with different levels of involvement throughout the 25 years. The first edition witnessed boxing legend Muhammad Ali and Mr. T. The second edition saw a 20 man battle royal pitting WWE superstars against NFL players. Mike Tyson appeared at XIV as the special guest enforcer, while professional welterweight boxer Flyod "Money"Mayweather battled The Big Show at XXIV. Even business tycoon Donald Trump was featured in a Hair vs. Hair match against owner Vince McMahon at the 23rd edition. The latest saw Oscar-nominated best actor Mickey Rourke as a spectator for a match that ended with him delivering a knock out blow to wrestler Chris Jericho.

Furthermore, many renowned musicians such as Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Willie Nelson, Reba McEntire, Little Richard, Boyz II Men, Ashanti, John Legend, Motorhead, Limp Bizkit, and Kid Rock have also performed at the events.

After a quarter of a century, Wrestlemania is still not showing its aging legs since cities around the world continue to wrestle for their right to hold the event in their respective cities. The impact of the event is certain because those cities know Wrestlemania have brought in millions of dollars of revenues to the host cities through the years. Would we continue to witness astounding matches and moments from the event in the future? The answer is simple: Definitely.
